FFwD - Make Up Day - Gougéres

Hello Friends! I hardly know where to begin this post. So much has been happening in my life lately and there is so much happening in the next few months.
Gougéres

First, my gougéres. They are delicious. I think this was one of the early French Friday recipes and I actually thought I'd made them but what I made was the goat cheese mini puffs which also uses a páte á choux, though it is slightly different.  I used a combo of cheddar and pepper jack and next time will use more pepper jack.  The little pepper kick is wonderful!

Anyhow, they are super easy to make and wonderful to eat. We ate several (can I call six several?) and I have a bag in the freezer ready to bake at a moments notice. I love having ready to bake items in my freezer!

I need to post about the past couple of FF recipes. I've cooked, photographed but not posted. Come on Lola/Guyla! Get with the program! So much to do...so much I want to do...so much I'm not getting done!

I had my son, daughter-in-law and grandson for an entire week! Is there anything better than having your grown children return home? I don't think so! And my SON is returning next week for a couple of days. More good news...we have a baby girl joining our family in January! As my clever daughter-in-law put it "a little PINK with our beloved blue". Happy, happy, happy!

I have reached my goal weight! The Fast Diet is the perfect plan for us. Now I'm trying to figure out how to maintain but I'm pretty sure it doesn't include 'several' gougéres with my drink every evening.

Happy Friday everyone! Life is good! This post participates in French Fridays with Dorie. We are a dedicated group of fun loving home cooks cooking our way through Dorie Greenspan's Around My French Table. There is still time to join us!

  3. Wow. You really do have so much going on! And gourgeres! These are the ones that started it ALL! I need to make these again...but for company...I don't want to eat them all and I surely would.

  4. I like hearing when the distractions outside of the kitchen are good ones. You know, I made the gougeres that very first week and haven't revisited this one. I don't know why because I really liked them. Thanks for the reminder! Yours look great!

  5. I sometimes find it difficult to process my photos and get my posts written in time, so I can relate! I loved the gougeres, and yours look tasty.

  7. I know, I've also really fallen behind this summer. I've even managed to cook along for the most part, but just can't seem to find time to get the post up at the end of each week. Happy to see you went back to make the gougeres. It's one of my favorite recipes and I also had to freeze most of them just to keep from eating them all!

  11. Love all the good news in this post - from the PINK addition, the time with family, weight goal and even that the gougeres were fab. I do recall loving them myself and eating more than I would care to document... I also love that you kept it real about the time it takes to cook, post and comment. Love it all and life is good- but I also have so much I want to do each day (this is great, in my opinion !!!) that sometimes I am playing catch up. Thank goodness the admins gave us a break.

  12. awww congrats Guyla!!! :)
I've been working on shedding my pregnancy weight these past couple months and I'm about ten pounds away from my goal weight! I'll tell ya the secret that I've found to keeping that weight maintained, a couple hours of exercise a week, even if its just going on a moderate walk for an hour a couple times a week, it really helps!

How exciting that you will have a new little bundle of joy to fawn over just after Christmas! What a fabulous, early gift! :)
I've still got to make the gougeres but I'm thinking I might have to now!
