FFwD - Strawberry Tartine and Anne LeBlanc's Pistachio Avocado

Fresh Fruit Tartine
You know this is good as soon as you hear the ingredients.  Strawberries, bread, goat cheese and balsamic vinegar.  Fruits and berries are so fresh and delicious right now.  We're eating tons of everything we can get our hands on and its surprising how good everything is.  That's why I couldn't stop at strawberries but had to try this with peaches and blackberries too.  They are all delicious!

A friend gave me a bottle of chocolate balsamic vinegar and it was perfect for this fruit tartine.  I can't wait to make it for her!
Anne LeBlanc's Pistachio Avocado
Dorie says this is more a list of ingredients than a recipe and she's right but who knew avocado and pistachio was such a wonderful pairing?  I've been looking for pistachio oil for weeks and couldn't find it but I read on the FF board that many people were making it. That was my plan but since I didn't get my act together (something that occurs with alarming regularity!) and get it done I was left winging it!  I  still plan to make the pistachio oil one of these days!

I have a bottle of chili infused olive oil that I drizzled on the chopped avocados and sprinkled toasted pistachios on top.  Add salt and voila, delicious!  Gary wrapped it in a flour tortilla and loved it.  We'll do this one again!

Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and concern for we Okies through the crazy weather of the past couple of weeks.  The El Reno tornado came much closer to us than the Moore tornado had and we experienced some flooding.  We've come out okay and had decided to take up the carpet in the den anyhow!  The flood just got us moving!  I did not know it could rain so hard.  Hopefully, bad weather is behind us for this season.  Its been exhausting!

You can check out all the French Fridays with Dorie results!

  3. Guyla, Nice to see you caught up with the Pistachio Avocado…one of my favorite non-recipe recipes! And the Strawberry Tartine was fabulous! Such a pretty platter of deliciousness! Love all the different fruit you used.
Hope things have calmed down in your neck of the woods. I have been sending prayers your way.

  5. Love your take on the pistachio avocado - a little kick from the olive oil must have been lovely. You're the second person to bring chocolate balsamic to my attention. I think I'm going to have to make some before the strawberries disappear.

  6. I'm glad you decided to make them both. These two "recipes" were amazingly simple yet exquisitely delicious and beautiful! I love your idea of using different fruits. And chocolate balsamic vinegar? That is definitely the cerise sur le gateau!

  12. Guyla I forgot your location but am delighted to hear that you made it through the worst of it. It was horrible to see the news footage. The little things in life, like a great Dorie recipe do make us appreciate how simple pleasures are best- no ? And this was a simple pleasure indeed though your other fruit options have me wondering when I can retry it with those :) We just adored this one.

  14. Guyla, beautiful presentation of your tartines with those wonderfully ripe strawberries, peaches and blackberries and an equally delicious looking pistachio avocado. These were wonderful and easy little recipes and I am happy to read that we all seemed to have agreed on these!
Have a lovely Monday - sorry, I am running so late wth comments we had burst water pipes over the weekend and they are still trying to fix things now...

  15. I hope that putting together some delicious treats was a comforting way to culminate a rather disasterous and uncomfortable week or two. Although your water damage could not have been pleasant, I suspect you are feeling very fortunate. How do people start again the second time??? I also liked both these recipes. I didn't use pistachio oil either and am intending to buy some and make the avocado recipe again. Wrapping it in a flour tortilla sounds good also. And, so does the chocolate balsamic vinegar. You have a nice friend!
